Extracurricular Activities
Makerspace - PWC's Makerspace team meets after school on Wednesdays in the Makerspace in the LRC. We work with various types of maker technology, including 3D printers, button makers, Cricut machines and heat presses. We are always welcome to new members.
Social Justice - Social Justice club is a collection of individuals that advocate for a fair and just society within our school, community, and globally. We seek to represent and offer a platform to students from all backgrounds. This pertains to discussions or events surrounding racial equality, LGBT+ equality, religious equality, gender equality and much more. Join us every Wednesday at lunch in Room 116 if you'd like to get involved!
Student Council - Student Council's mission is to put off annual events for students, as well as represent the voice of the student body. We are a mix of elected and chosen individuals who demonstrate strong leadership skills both inside and outside of class. The executive positions (President, Vice-President, Level 3, and Level 2 reps) are elected for the upcoming year at the end of the current academic year, and then hold interviews for all other positions. All PWC students are eligible to apply for a position with Student Council.
Badminton - PWC’s badminton group has been meeting on Wednesdays after school for the past month. Students have been learning the skills of the game as well as playing against their teammates. Currently we have 18 students practicing and a team of students from this group will be attending badminton regionals the weekend of April 12-13 at Gonzaga high school.
Math League Club - PWC’s Math Club has been thriving this year with great student participation. Students met monthly before Christmas during lunch to help prepare for the Senior High Math Leagues. PWC hosted the first game in December, with over 55 students from various schools in attendance. Our own school had 3 teams for the first event in December and 3 teams for the second event held in March. We hope to meet at least once more during the month of April. New members are always welcome. See Mrs. Gibbons in Room 201 for details.
PWC Good People Project - A collaboration between students and teachers aimed at outreach to the school and the community. The mission of this group is to spread positivity with aims to promote student leadership, community activism, and implementing projects.
Girls Softball - Competitive School Softball team that starts almost right away! Try-outs are held early September, and we usually practice 2 times a week, then participate in the 4A Regional Tournament a couple weeks later. Short and exciting softball season!
Book Club - Book Club meets one lunch time a month to discuss our perspectives on books of various genres chosen by students. All book lovers are welcome!
Public Speaking - Students are trained to compete in the Rotary and Lions Club Speak Offs, both held in the Spring. PWC won first place in both this year (2024).
Debate Club - The Debate Club offers a platform for students to sharpen their public speaking, critical thinking, and persuasive skills. Members engage in structured debates on current issues, honing their ability to construct and defend arguments while respecting opposing viewpoints. Regular practices and competitions encourage intellectual growth, teamwork, and confidence in public discourse. Whether preparing for tournaments or fostering a love for debate, this club equips students with essential communication skills for any field.
Model United Nations (MUN) - Model UN simulates the operations of the United Nations, giving students the opportunity to represent countries in discussions about global issues. Participants develop diplomatic, research, and negotiation skills as they debate and draft resolutions to address international crises. The club fosters an understanding of geopolitics and the challenges of international relations while encouraging leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving in a global context.
Recycling Club - Focused on environmental stewardship, the Recycling Club promotes sustainability within the school and local community. Members organize recycling drives, raise awareness about waste reduction, and advocate for eco-friendly practices. Through hands-on activities, the club teaches students the importance of conservation, resource management, and responsible consumer behavior, encouraging a greener future.
Terracycle Program - The Terracycle Program is dedicated to reducing landfill waste by recycling non-traditional materials. Club members collect items that are typically hard to recycle, such as plastic packaging or electronics, and partner with Terracycle to repurpose them. This initiative educates the community on waste diversion and sustainability, while contributing to broader environmental conservation efforts by transforming waste into usable products.
